interAKtive, a Surrey-based charity for families with children on the autism spectrum, has received a cheque for £10,000 from O2E. “We are delighted to have received such a generous donation,” says the Chair, Shelagh Dixon. “This money will go a long way towards underwriting this year’s summer playscheme, which will be attended by more than 50 children over a two week period. The charity depends very much upon the fund-raising efforts of people who are part of organisations such as O2E. Without them, we would not be able to continue our valuable programme of events.”

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the summer playscheme, and O2E’s £10,000 means that the charity will be able to make sure that it is a very special occasion for the children.

Anthony Padgett of O2E visited the Easter playscheme with two of his daughters on April 8th, to hand over the cheque and meet staff and children. He is planning a return visit in the summer, when he will be able to see the children enjoying the events and activities that the donation will be funding.

interAKtive’s playscheme is invaluable to parents, who can leave their children with specialist and caring staff, knowing that they will be safe, secure and stimulated throughout the day. It gives parents the opportunity for some “me” time, or time to spend with their autistic child’s siblings.
